A charming antique Edwardian-style Bergere rocking chair, featuring an attractive combination of traditional craftsmanship, elegant proportions and decorative cane work. This traditional wooden Bergere rocker has a beautifully curved crest rail, a narrow woven cane back panel and a generously shaped seat with open-weave cane seating. The warm golden-brown wooden frame features turned front supports, decorative spindle stretchers and gently curved rockers, giving the chair a distinctive country cottage character. Its compact proportions make it particularly suitable as an occasional chair for a bedroom, nursery, reading corner or traditional living room. The chair retains an appealing aged patina, with visible grain, surface scratches, small knocks and general wear consistent with its age and previous use. There is evidence of historic woodworm in the form of old flight holes, but no signs of active infestation, and the chair has been treated as a precautionary measure. A characterful piece of traditional furniture with attractive period styling.

Dimensions: height 88cm, height to seat 38cm, seat depth 39cm, depth 58cm, width 43cm.

Offered in vintage used condition with signs of age, wear and previous use, as might be expected and is mentioned and pictured purely for accuracy. Please see photos for the best description and any marks that should be noted. Click images to enlarge.
